ENES was organized for the first time by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation in 2011. The Forum was held at the ‘Electrification’ exhibition pavilion at VDNKh and brought together several hundred energy specialists. An exhibition area covering less than 2,000 metres was also set up at the site.
The results of the first event confirmed right away that the Russian Ministry of Energy was on the right track in terms of implementing the country’s Energy Efficiency Enhancement Programme. It was clear that this communication platform was relevant and popular within the current realities of how Russia’s energy potential was developing. The decision was made to hold the next event in the historical centre of Moscow at Gostiny Dvor, not far from the Kremlin. This cultural and business centre became the Forum’s permanent venue in the coming years.
The fifth ENES Forum in 2016 set records in terms of the number of professionals in attendance. Some 16,000 people visited the Forum over its three days of work. On the first day alone, the Forum had 7,500 guests, which was close to the maximum permissible capacity for Gostiny Dvor. Details about the 2016 ENES Forum can befound here.
