Alexander Novak Invited US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry to REW 2018

The official website of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation reports that Minister Alexander Novak met with US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry as part of his working visit to Washington, DC.

Alexander Novak noted that, despite the complex nature of Russian–American relations, business communities of both countries remain open for cooperation. The fact that the American delegation was the largest among all other foreign guests to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is a remarkable example of it.

The Minister also noted that the power industry could become a driving force for the productive development of relations between Russia and the United States. “We agreed to continue communication and cooperation as energy can really become a driver for the development of our relations,” Novak emphasized.

As TASS reports, Alexander Novak added that he invited his American colleague to participate in the International Forum Russian Energy Week 2018, which will take place in Moscow this autumn.

“I invited Mr Perry to participate in the Russian Energy Week, which will take place in Moscow on 3–6 October. Hopefully he will join us,” Mr Novak said, emphasizing that they agreed to maintain continuous communication.

In January, Novak and Perry also met at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
