Russian Energy Week to Engage in Discussion on Nuclear Power Development Prospects

On September 28 Russia is celebrating the Day of the Nuclear Industry Worker. This date has been marked since 2005 and commemorates the day the research to explore the possibilities of atomic energy has begun. It was on September 28, 1942 when the order “On Organizing Uranium Research” has been officially signed.

Problems of nuclear energy will be one of the central topics during the Russian Energy Week forum. A round table discussion on The Role and Development Prospects of Nuclear Power in the Global Energy Balance will take place on October 4. Discussion will be moderated by Charles Hendry, UK Minister of State at the Department of Energy and Climate Change (2010 - 2012). Among the participants of this event are Director General of State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) William D. Magwood IV, President of Eletrobras Eletronuclear Bruno Barretto, MVM Hungarian Electric Company President Peter Chiba and others. Conversation will focus on ways of creating optimal energy balance between carbon and nuclear generation and the prospects of nuclear power development.
