Russian schoolchildren start getting lessons on energy conservation

A new subject has emerged in the school curriculum of secondary schools in a number of regions of the Russian Federation: energy efficient lighting and a careful approach to energy resources. Lessons for sixth and seventh grade students have been organized at schools in the Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kursk, and Novgorod Regions.

The lessons were conducted by specialists from fuel and energy companies, who told the students about how to save electricity in their everyday lives, what inventions form the basis of modern energy efficient technologies, and how wasteful electricity consumption increases the burden on the environment and depletes natural resources.

Leading an energy saving lifestyle will be one of the central themes during Russian Energy Week. The Forum’s programme includes a national meeting on the promotion of energy efficiency and energy conservation which will be attended by representatives of the Russian regions, among others.
