Russians can sign petition on accelerated transition to energy efficient lighting from 1 Aug-22 Dec

The website of the #BrighterTogether All-Russian Energy Conservation Festival has started collecting signatures to support a petition on the accelerated transition to energy efficient lighting. The campaign is a continuation of the initiative launched by the festival’s organizing committee in 2016 during which more than 45,000 residents of Russia signed a petition supporting the country’s transition to energy efficient LED lighting.

Given the support expressed by citizens, the Russian Government in 2017 decided to use only energy efficient and eco-friendly LED light sources in the entrances to apartment buildings during their construction and major repairs as well as in the reception rooms of hospitals and other public buildings with continuous lighting (Resolution No. 275 dated 7 March 2017). This initiative is actively promoted by the Russian Ministry of Energy.

The 2017 petition says that now Russian citizens can help not only to adopt regulatory legislative measures concerning the country’s transition to modern energy efficient lighting technologies, but also solve issues concerning financial support for the adopted laws.

Russia has declared 2017 as the Year of Ecology. According to the Government’s plans, there needs to be a revolutionary transition to energy efficient lighting sources over the next five years.

The #BrighterTogether All-Russian Energy Conservation Festival will be an important part of the 'Russian Energy Week' Energy Efficiency and Energy Development International Forum.
