Alexander Novak Names Necessary Skills for Future Energy Sector Specialists

October 17, 2021

Curiosity and a desire to keep growing are some of the fundamental components of professional success in the energy, technology, engineering, and oil and gas industries. That was the message that Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak delivered to schoolchildren and university students during ‘Dialogue As Equals,’ held on 15 October 2021 as part of Russian Energy Week's Youth Day.

“Curiosity, stick-to-itiveness, and diligence are important skills that are essential for future youth specialists in the energy, technology, engineering, and oil and gas industries. You must strive to constantly grow, improve, and learn throughout your entire life,” said Alexander Novak in response to a question posed by a participant of the REW.Junior youth section.

During his welcome, the Deputy Prime Minister also addressed the section’s young participants, noting that they would be responsible for the future development of new areas in the traditional and clean energy sectors, including the creation of new sources of energy.

“Russia’s strategy during the energy transition allows for the development of new directions in the traditional energy sector. We and our industries are ready for this, our enterprises are working with scientists. We have the advantage in these areas since the Soviet era. Which is why the development of alternative sources of energy is an enormous opportunity for growth and attracting new investment. And it is precisely you, my young audience, that will be working towards these goals to make sure that our country remains a global power even under new conditions, during an energy transition,” said Alexander Novak.

The REW.Junior section was organized by the Content Foundation for the Development of Expert and Analytical Activity, which organized events as part of the Point Junior discussion and communication platform with the support of Innopraktika and the Roscongress Foundation.

Point Junior youth tracks were included in the agendas of the 24th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2021) and the 6th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF 2021). A total of over 250 Russian and foreign school-age children and over 150 global business leaders, prominent government officials, and experts took part in the events.
