October 6, 2018

On 6 October, as part of #TogetherBrighter Youth Day of the Russian Energy Week 2018, one round of the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship was held – the Young Specialists League.   The round was won by the team of the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Works, followed by the representatives of PAO Tatneft in the second place, and the third place was taken by the Arctic Impulse team of the Research and Development Center at Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System. The team of PAO Tatneft was announced the winner of the Young Specialists League of CASE-In 2018.

The #TogetherBrigher Youth Day of REW 2018 is a platform where young people offer top energy managers their strategic initiatives on how to develop the industry. Participants in the Young Specialists League faced just as ambitious a task. They were asked to forecast the prospective development of the energy sector in the Far East and   Sakhalin Island, including indicators and condition of economy, transport infrastructure, and the island’s energy sector for a period through 2030, while also deciding on the need to build a bridge or tunnel to link Sakhalin with the mainland.

“It is for the first time that we are holding the CASE-IN Young Specialists League this year, and yet, we can see the growing interest both from the companies of the fuel and energy sector and mineral resources sector and from young specialists themselves.    Thanks to their qualification, young specialists are getting involved in solving more comprehensive and ambitious tasks, and we are ready to support them in this respect: in 2019 we plan to hold a full-scale competition season for the Young Specialists League. I am sure that for the participants, this will be great experience which they will be able to use in their professional activity,” commented Artem Korolev, Director of the Reliable Rising Generation Foundation and co-organizer of the Championship.

The participants in the Young Specialists League held as part of the REW 2018 Youth Day are young people aged up to 35 who are employed at the leading companies of Russia’s fuel and energy sector and natural resources sector, such as OOO Gazprom Transgaz,  Gazprom Neft R&D Centre, Saratov Branch of PAO T Plus, PAO MOESK, PAO MOSENERGO, ООО Raspadskaya Coal Company, PAO Novolipetsk Metallurgical Combine, IDGC of Centre, АО SO UPS, АО Research and Development Center at Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System, ООО SIBUR Tobolsk, PAO Tatneft, SIBUR Neftekhim, and OOO Siberian Generating Company.

“Young specialists presented at the Championship the most effective and expedient engineering solution for a bridge at Sakhalin Island, including thoroughly considered proposals on developing road infrastructure. Young people also demonstrated a good command of professional terminology. And this is vital,” said Yuri Kulikov, head of the expert commission and leading expert at the Staff Department of AO System Operator of the United Power System.

The winners of the Young Specialists League of the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship 2018 from PAO Tatneft were awarded by Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak.
