August 15, 2024

The architecture of the business programme for the Russian Energy Week International Forum 2024, scheduled to take place at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall in Moscow on 26–28 September, has been finalized. The central theme of the event will be “Energy Cooperation in a Multipolar World”. For the first time, this year’s Russian Energy Week will be held at two venues: the events of the business programme will be hosted at the Manege, while an exhibition of equipment and technologies for the fuel and energy industry will be organized at Gostiny Dvor. Leading manufacturers, equipment suppliers, and technology companies from various sectors of the industry will showcase promising projects, breakthrough achievements, innovative equipment, and advanced technologies to a wide audience of industry professionals specialising in the extraction, processing, transportation, transmission, and distribution of energy resources.

The Forum’s business programme will feature more than 30 events organized into thematic blocks: “International Agenda: Cooperation for Development”, “Sustainable Energy Development”, “Technology and Data as the Foundation of Leadership”, “Development of Russia’s Fuel and Energy Industry Sectors: Strategy and Regulation”, and “Socially Oriented Fuel and Energy Industry”. A day before the Forum begins, a scientific and practical conference titled “Territory of Energy Dialogue” will take place. The main Forum programme will also include business breakfasts focused on the future of energy. The key events will occur on 26–27 September, culminating in the traditional Youth Day.

“The stability of energy supply, the establishment of robust supply chains, and the exploration of new regions for demand growth are among the many challenges increasingly confronting the global energy community. In today’s multipolar world, direct dialogue between industry players is particularly crucial. The Russian Energy Week International Forum has emerged as a significant international platform for the industry, and this year, it will once again gather key participants from the Russian energy market, along with representatives from foreign countries and companies, officials, experts, and the media, to discuss the prospects for industry development amid changing conditions,” Alexander Novak, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.

As per tradition, in addition to the main business programme, REW 2024 will host the Global Energy Prize international award ceremony, recognizing outstanding research and scientific and technical developments that contribute to increasing the efficiency and environmental safety of energy sources on Earth for the benefit of all humanity. Additionally, there will be an award ceremony for the winners of the Energy of the Word international journalism prize, which aims to encourage journalists, commentators, and experts who write about the most pressing issues in modern energy, including the transformation of the global energy balance, the development of new technologies, and climate change.

“In October 2023, the Russian Federation approved a new Climate Doctrine aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, which includes reducing CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions from production activities to zero. The climate agenda will be a focal point of the REW 2024 business programme. The Forum’s programme comprehensively addresses all the pertinent issues and topics that industry experts, representatives of leading energy companies, and officials need to discuss. I am confident that Russian Energy Week, along with the equipment and technology exhibition organized as part of it for the first time, will once again serve as the central venue for international energy dialogue," Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the REW 2024 Organizing Committee.

This year, REW will host a meeting of BRICS energy ministers alongside the Annual Meeting of the BRICS Energy Research Platform. Special attention will be given to Russia’s energy cooperation with Africa. The Forum’s programme will emphasize sustainable energy development, the exploration of new resources, and the integration of digital technologies in the industry. Participants will also discuss the development of Russia’s fuel and energy industry, the training of engineering personnel for the sector, and strategies for educating young specialists.

“The meeting of BRICS energy ministers is a key event in the energy agenda under Russia’s BRICS presidency, and it will include the participation of new BRICS members for the first time. We expect to discuss priority areas of cooperation with our partners, such as technological collaboration, trade facilitation, investment, research activities, and joint personnel training. Additionally, we plan to present a study on the challenges of a just energy transition, which experts from the BRICS Energy Research Platform are currently developing. As always, significant attention will be given to youth cooperation. Following the ministers’ meeting, the 6th BRICS Youth Energy Summit will take place during REW Youth Day, with more than 100 delegates from BRICS countries participating,” emphasized Sergey Tsivilev, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation.

The Russian Energy Week International Forum is a major global platform for discussing current trends in the modern fuel and energy industry. The event traditionally features the participation of leaders from the largest companies in the energy sector. In 2023, more than 70 events were held as part of REW, with over 225 speakers contributing. The Forum was attended by over 5,000 delegates from 84 countries and territories. Additionally, more than 2,000 participants took part in the Youth Day events.

The Russian Energy Week International Forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation and the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, with support from the Moscow Government. The business programme’s architecture can be viewed on the official Forum website.
