The Russian Energy Week (REW)
International Forum will hold its Youth Day in Moscow on 13 October 2023. More
than 1,500 young professionals, university students, and schoolchildren, as
well as the heads of government bodies, industry companies, and universities
will take part in the main youth event in matters concerning energy
development. The programme is available on the official REW website.
REW and Youth Day are being
organized by the Roscongress Foundation and the Ministry of Energy of the
Russian Federation with the support of the Moscow Government. The Reliable
Shift (Nadezhnaya Smena) Foundation is managing the events of Youth Day.
As part of the REW Youth Day
programme, which includes events that aim to promote the fuel and energy
industry and engineering education, young people from the industry will meet
with managers and experts to exchange ideas and jointly shape the youth agenda
of the fuel and energy sector for the next year.
The central event will be the
plenary session ‘Energy 2035: The Future of the Industry’, which is being
organized by the Russian Znanie Society as part of the ‘Znanie.Lectures’ track
and will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander
Novak, the CEOs of leading companies and organizations in Russia, and young
industry leaders. The meeting participants will discuss prospects for the
development of the Russian fuel and energy industry, youth initiatives, and
other issues.
“Today, it’s particularly
important to talk about modern challenges and opportunities in the energy
sector and its importance for Russia’s development. And I am glad that the
Russian Znanie Society will again take part in Russian Energy Week this year.
On the Forum’s Youth Day, as part of the ‘Znanie.Lectures’ track, we will
organize a plenary session with the participation of prominent individuals who
will talk about the current state of the industry and its future. There will be
a lot of interesting information, which I am certain will help shape the
scientific and technical literacy of our young people,” Russian Znanie Society
General Director Maxim Dreval said.
The Russian Znanie Society
specifically developed four infographic videos for Russian Energy Week on the
themes of the Forum’s business program architecture, namely: the international
agenda in terms of energy resources, where Russia is one of the world’s main
exporters; the development of the domestic fuel and energy sectors; scientific,
technological, and digital transformation; and ways to reduce the industry’s
negative environmental impact. The winners of national and international
industry competitions will be awarded upon conclusion of the meeting.
These events include
interactive sessions that are crucial to REW Youth Day, in which teams of
students and young professionals will prepare projects to be presented to
experts and subsequently implemented. The best works from the Engineering
Development Competition will be presented during Youth Day: mock-ups
(laboratory or experimental samples), sets of design documentation, prototypes
of scientific and technical products, and production or industrial samples.
Leaders of the industry and major fuel and energy companies will meet with
young people during the traditional roundtable ‘The Fuel and Energy Sector for
Young People’, where they will discuss youth policy and important economic and
social issues.
The final day of REW will
offer a platform for meetings of youth industry associations. The Youth Council
for the Electric Power Industry will hold a regular meeting, the panel session
‘Youth Communities: A Catalyst for Global Processes’, and a lecture on
information modelling technologies in the energy sector, as well as augmented
and virtual reality.
The REW Cup will be held for
young specialists, while the final round of the League of CIS Young Specialists
of the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship will be held for the
first time. Members of the CASE-IN winners club will hold their own meeting.
Special events for young REW
participants have been prepared by the Moscow Power Engineering Institute
National Research University, the Russian Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the
Moscow Government, the Content Foundation, Rosatom State Corporation, Moscow
State Institute of International Relations of the Russian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute National Research Nuclear
University, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, SO UES, Gazprom
Neft, and others.
The Content Foundation will
hold a meeting in a dialogue format with fuel and energy industry leaders on
the topic ‘Young People and the Future of the Russian Energy Industry’. A
project session organized by RusHydro will look at tools that can help develop
skills for young specialists in the energy industry. The Federal Agency for
Youth Affairs will invite participants to discuss how to enhance the appeal of
engineering and technical professions among young people, while Rosatom State
Corporation will address how to build effective interaction between employers
in the career guidance system for young people. In addition, representatives of
leading fuel and energy companies will hold an interactive exhibition of
vacancies and a presentation of production and business processes for all
participants.
The programme will also
feature the final stages and award ceremonies for the winners of federal and
corporate events, including the presentation of the Youth Global Energy
Development Forecast, the national competition of final qualifying works on
electrical power and electricity-related topics with the management of Rosseti,
as well as the oil industry IT championship.
Schoolchildren will also take
part in the REW Youth Day 2023: a special career guidance path has been developed
to introduce them to the Russian fuel and energy industry and the companies
participating in REW. During a panel discussion, young participants will think
about how industrial companies can build ‘friendships’ with high school
students and whether recruiting personnel directly out of school could become a
method for supporting school education in Russia.
An open lecture hall will be
available for participants throughout the day.
Youth Day will conclude with
the traditional session ‘Energy of Youth Initiatives 2024’, during which the
winners of the 2023 youth competitions will receive awards. The session will
help to shape the agenda of youth events and initiatives for 2024.
Registration for Youth Day
participants will remain open until 30 September on the website of the Russian
Energy Week International Forum rusenergyweek.com.
