The architecture of the Russian Energy Week International Forum programme has been published on its official website. The Forum will host more than 30 business events in 6 areas of focus, including: ‘Economy and the Market: New Scenarios, ‘The Digital Transformation’, ‘The Climate Agenda’, ‘New Technological Solutions’, ‘New Energy Regulations’, and ‘Human Resource Potential in Fuel and Energy’. Furthermore, an award ceremony recognizing Global Energy Prize laureates will take place as part of the programme. Traditional REW 2021 Youth Day events are scheduled for 15 October.
“Russian Energy Week is one of the energy sector’s most important global events. After a hiatus last year, we once again bring industry leaders and experts together in a single discussion platform. One of the main topics up for discussion will be climate change, green energy, and the transition to new environmentally friendly fuels. Attention will also be focussed on human resources within the industry, its digitalization, and potential energy market development. I am convinced that the discussions taking place at this Forum will draw additional public attention to pertinent issues in the fuel and energy sector,” Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the REW 2021 Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov said.
This year’s Form programme covers timely and challenging issues of the domestic and global energy markets. The climate agenda will receive priority attention. Leading world energy companies, market experts, and representatives of the international scientific community will discuss present strategies for the development of international energy markets, and discuss the future of the industry in this era of energy transition.
Another important topic up for consideration is the digitalization of the energy industry. Experts will discuss how to protect information infrastructure from cyber threats in the context of the digital transformation taking place, as well as the use of Big Data in industry and its potential. Panellists will discuss the mistakes and challenges of the digital transformation of the coal industry and focus on current trends arising from the new digital reality.
“In just a few years, Russian Energy Week has succeeded in becoming one of the most important international platforms for discussing the cutting edge in the development of the modern fuel and energy sector. The event is invariably held at the highest level with the participation of national leaders and the heads of the world’s largest energy companies. The development of the global fuel and energy sector within the context of the climate agenda, digitalization, and changes in the market structure will serve as the main theme of REW 2021. I am sure that the forum will lay the foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation between countries and energy companies in a number of strategic areas,” Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak said.
An award ceremony recognizing Global Energy Prize laureates will take place as part of Russian Energy Week 2021. Youth Day, a traditional meeting between young representatives of the fuel and energy sector and business leaders, is scheduled to take place on the final of the Forum. Young specialists and students of Russian and international energy-sector universities will be given the opportunity to pose questions to industry professionals and business heads, as well as present their initiatives and the results of work carried out.
Russian Energy Week 2021 is being organized by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Roscongress Foundation, and the Moscow Government.
