Sergey Mochalnikov: “The stock exchange mechanism, including the organization of coal trading on the stock exchange, is going to have an extremely positive effect”

“The development of exchange trading is a transparent tool whose integrity is hard to refute,” Sergey Mochalnikov said at a session entitled “Exchangization of the Fuel and Energy Sector – New Challenges – New Indicators” on the venues of Russian Energy Week (REW 2022).

According to the Deputy Minister, exchange trading counteracts any manipulations of pricing data.

“We believe that the stock exchange mechanism, including the organization of coal trading on the stock exchange, is going to have an extremely positive effect,” said Sergey Mochalnikov.

The Deputy Minister added that the registration of OTC transactions has been taking place for over a year, and that this model is more representative in terms of creating national indicators for the fuel and energy sector.

The business programme of Russian Energy Week, which will take place in person and remotely this year on 13–15 October, will feature roundtables and thematic sessions on key issues concerning the development of the energy industry around the world. The Forum will provide a platform to discuss the main challenges faced by the energy sector and pressing issues concerning the development of the gas, oil, and coal industries. In addition, the REW programme traditionally includes such topics as: petrochemistry, the electric power industry, nuclear power, energy based on renewable energy sources (RES) as well as energy conservation and energy efficiency. The central event of the Forum’s business programme will be the plenary session on 13 October. Russian Energy Week is being organized by the Russian Ministry of Energy, the Roscongress Foundation, and the Moscow government.
