Current challenges to power industry
investment, effects of digital transformation and successful practical
solutions in this field were discussed at the session ‘Working with Investment
Programmes: How to Increase Efficiency’ held at Gostiny Dvor in Moscow as part
of the Russian Energy Week International Forum.
“Investment programmes
mean more for the Russian energy sector than just planning construction or
modernization of facilities. It's a tool allowing us to ensure sustainable
economic growth, guarantee power supply reliability and security. In recent
years, the power industry has faced new challenges. These problems cannot be
overcome without modernizing the infrastructure and implementing
innovation-based technologies”, noted deputy Minister for Energy of the Russian Federation Eduard Sheremetsev.
Additionally, discussion participants discussed
security and information control as part of investment programmes. In
particular, Alexey Molsky, Member of the Board, Deputy Director General for Investment
and Capital Construction, Rosseti, stressed that new requirements for
investment programmes are emerging under the current conditions. These include
information security and import substitution, which require hardware and
software. In turn, Roman Makin, Head of Investment at SO UPS, remarked that
automation of the investment programme design space places additional
requirements on financial flow control.
“During this session,
we discussed problems of investment programme management for power industry
entities under given the rapidly developing Russian economy and ever growing
consumer demand for reliable and efficient power. The State recognizes this
problem as critically important, and market participants note that conventional
methods for investment programme design, approval and implementation control
are often labour-intensive and inefficient. Digital transformation of these
processes can improve their transparency, reduce costs and accelerate
decision-making to ensure harmonious development of the country's power
sector”, noted the
discussion moderator Lyudmila
Bogatyryova, head of the IT division of Polylog Consulting Group.
