REW 2018’s Agenda to Include EAEU Country Policies in Promoting Energy Efficiency

The roundtable ‘EAEU Country Policies in Promoting Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development of the Energy Sector: Challenges and Shared Initiatives’ will be held as part of Russian Energy Week International Forum.

Energy efficiency, energy saving, metrological monitoring, and encouraging energy saving in small and medium-sized enterprises are common issues facing EAEU member-states, which make up one of the largest energy regions of the world.

As part of Russian Energy Week and the upcoming roundtable, EAEU member-states are planning to discuss energy saving and the transition to modern, green technologies. Countries where the quality of life is improving are interested in reducing their dependency on energy sources and increasing energy efficiency. Several countries in the region have already managed to create effective mechanisms to reduce energy consumption and ensure the sustainable growth of their energy sector. Experience has shown that the state has played a key role in achieving these results, including through the use of government support measures. What are countries prioritizing in their efforts to save energy and transition to green energy sources?  Where has progress been most apparent, and how was this achieved? What is the current and potential role of Eurasian integration? Will it be possible to agree on uniform supranational priorities and timeframes by which to achieve them? These and a number of other issues will be discussed by rountable participants.

The discussion will include Deputy Director of the Technical Regulation and Accreditation Department at the Eurasian Economic Commission Vyacheslav Burmistrov, Project Manager for the Energy Efficiency Project in the Countries of the Eurasian Economic Union as part of the United Nations Development Programme to the Republic of Armenia Suren Gyurdzhinyan, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Anton Inyutsyn, Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Emil Kaikiyev, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Standardization — Director of the Department for Energy Efficiency Mikhail Malashenko, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Armenia Dmitri Mariyasin, and Deputy Chairman of the Industrial Development and Industrial Safety Committee of the Ministry for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Timur Nurashev.
