RusHydro and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) sign a cooperation agreement

Today, as part of Russian Energy Week, RusHydro and MGIMO signed a cooperation agreement on educational programmes.

Its key priorities include the development of effective cooperation in teaching and education and the implementation of vocational educational programmes to train skilled professionals for RusHydro. The agreement also makes provision for MGIMO students to complete internships at RusHydro.

RusHydro, Russia’s largest hydropower company, places a great deal of focus on human resource development. In September, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, RusHydro, the Far Eastern Federal University and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology signed an agreement on cooperation at RusHydro’s research centre on Russky Island, which was formally opened at EEF. The RusHydro research centre is a unique testing site where Russian scientists and engineers will create and develop innovative solutions for local energy, renewable energy sources and heat generation.

Since 2019, RusHydro has been pursuing a project to create information zones in universities. The company has opened such zones at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute National Research University and the Far Eastern Federal University, at the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering and the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute’s Volga branch and at the Novosibirsk State Technical University. The information spaces have been well received by students and teaching staff at the universities. In 2018, the Institute of Hydropower and Renewable Energy Sources was opened at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute National Research University with support from RusHydro.

In addition to training and retraining staff, the Group pursues projects aimed at employee participation in improvements to operational procedures, in improvements to the social environment in areas where RusHydro operates, and in volunteering and educational programmes. The company’s significant initiatives include the RATSENERGY corporate innovation and optimization championship, the Inner Energy Source competition for young specialists, and the RusHydro Group’s Community of Young Workers. Each year, RusHydro also holds the Energy of Development national competition for students and the Spring Student Energy School, and pursues other projects.
