International Energy Organization Dialogue: Predicting the Development of Energy and Global Markets

The business programme of the Russian Energy Week International Forum will include an International Energy Organization Dialogue dedicated to forecasting the development of the energy sector and global markets. The event takes place in the year of the 55th anniversary of the Russian Ministry of Energys Russian Energy Agency, and experts from key international analytical organizations have been invited to discuss the future of the global energy sector.

The energy transition is taking over the world: the intensification of the global climate agenda, the accelerated introduction of modern technologies, the build-up of renewable energy generation capacity, and the emergence of new energy sources are rapidly evolving trends that are changing the situation in todays global markets and adding uncertainty to the strategic vision of the global energy future. According to several international analytical agencies, the world could be well on its way to a new development model by 2050. However, many challenges are standing in its way, including the need to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, the immaturity of the technology, the high investment burden, and the fact that, according to UN estimates, one in five people in the world still does not have access to electricity.

Providing consumers with reliable and affordable energy resources is the main task of the fuel and energy sector. The desire to decarbonize the global economy should not prevent this from being achieved. That is why Russia, alongside developing alternative energy sources, is working to improve technologies and implement breakthrough solutions that help improve the environmental performance of traditional sectors of the fuel and energy sector,” stressed Alexey Kulapin, Director General of the Russian Ministry of Energys Russian Energy Agency.

Participants will discuss what the global energy balance will be like in 2050, when the energy transition will have arrived for all countries in the world, and how to overcome the significant challenges on its way.

The Russian Energy Week International Forum will be held in Moscow, 13–15 October 2021, at the Manezh Exhibition Hall. REW 2021 is organized by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Roscongress Foundation and the Moscow City Government.
