The panel discussion is expected to touch on the prospects for the development of the global natural gas motor fuel market and its net effect on the fuel market and prices of other types of fuels. Experts will share their opinions on whether natural gas will be able to compete with gasoline and diesel fuels, and which automobile segment may have the most demand for it. Discussion participants will discuss why natural gas, despite all of its advantages, is still not being widely used and what opportunities are available to countries that depend on its import. The panel session will touch on the necessity of government programs for promoting natural gas fuels in domestic and international markets. The development of natural gas fuel infrastructure will also be discussed.
In the days running up to Russian Energy Week 2018, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Gazprom and Russian Special Presidential Representative for Cooperation with the Gas Exporting Countries Forum Viktor Zubkov shared his opinion: “The advantages of natural gas as an automotive fuel are becoming clearer, especially in Russia. This is a more affordable resource for consumers than traditional fuel. There are a number of issues tied to the development of infrastructure for automobiles powered by natural gas fuel, but there are already being addressed with the help of the Government of the Russian Federation. Today, it is important to establish a dialogue with our international colleagues and hear their plans for converting to this green fuel and develop joint initiatives in both the natural gas and transport industries.”
