The business programme of ‘Territory of Energy Dialogue 2023’ Scientific and Practical Conference has been published

The Russian Energy Week International Forum will hold the second ‘Territory of Energy Dialogue 2023’ Scientific and Practical Conference. It is organized by the Russian Energy Agency of the Ministry of Energy of Russia and the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.

At the plenary session entitled ‘Medium- and Long-Term Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Fuel and Energy Complex in the New Environment’, Ivan Lobanov, Rector of Plekhanov Russian Economic University; Andrey Klepach, Chief Economist of VEB; Alexei Kulapin, Director General of the Russian Energy Ministry’s REA; Nikolay Rogalev, Rector of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute; Grigory Gladkovsky, Deputy Chief Engineer of Rosseti; and other experts will discuss what factors and emerging technological trends will influence the energy landscape of the future and how to ensure advanced scientific and technological development of the Russian fuel and energy sector.

Today, the country’s fuel and energy complex faces important tasks of ensuring technological sovereignty and developing new technologies. We need not just to replace imported developments, but to be one step ahead, to create our own competitive technologies, goods and services that can become new global standards. Within the framework of the Conference we will try to develop recommendations that will help to shorten the path from invention of technologies to their implementation in order to achieve technological sovereignty,” said Alexei Kulapin, Director General of the Russian Energy Ministry’s REA.

During the panel sessions, representatives of industry companies, authorities, scientific and expert community will consider in detail models and methods of forecasting the development of domestic and global energy, the prospects of distributed and local energy, technological development of the coal industry. Special attention will be paid to the methods of energy statistics, domestic developments in the field of hydrogen energy, alternative fuels and technologies for motor transport, energy security, as well as energy development of Russia and ASEAN countries until 2035.

The ‘Territory of Energy Dialogue 2023’ Scientific and Practical Conference is being held for the second time, and I think it will become a traditional event within the framework of the Russian Energy Week and an annual platform for discussions on fuel and energy complex. In the current conditions of the ‘energy transition’, it is especially important to come up with long-term scenarios for the industry’s development, which is what the experts at the Conference will be doing,” said Vladimir Zatynaiko, Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Russian Energy Week International Forum.

The ‘Territory of Energy Dialogue 2023’ Scientific and Practical Conference will take place on 10 October 2023 at Radisson Blu Olympiyskiy (1, Samarskaya Ulitsa, Moscow). The Conference is part of the Russian Energy Week International Forum that will be held in Manege Central Exhibition Hall in Moscow on 11–13 October 2023.

06 October 2018 Energy Minister and Minister of Science and Higher Education meet with students and young experts at REW 2018

On 6 October, as part of #BrighterTogether Youth Day of the Russian Energy Week 2018, Energy Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak and Mikhail Kotyukov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, held an informal meeting with students and young specialists. In his opening remarks, Alexander Novak pointed to the unprecedented scale of REW 2018, which has become an important international platform for discussing development problems faced by the energy sector. In particular, he said that around 10,000 specialists from 70 regions of Russia had taken part in the Russian Energy Week 2018, including 3000 young people aged under 35. The REW 2018 hosted 60 events and considered 70 projects, and most of them were developed involving young specialists, according to the Minister. Taking questions from young people, Alexander Novak and Mikhail Kotyukov stressed the need to foster educational programmes aimed at effectively attracting the youth into the energy sector. To illustrate this idea, Mr Novak recalled his first steps in the industry. Among other things, he said young specialists of his plant were actively involved in the development and introduction of streamlining proposals. The Energy Minister believes that the practice should be restored. The industry urgently needs the energy of young people, full of initiative and aimed to achieve the best results. Therefore, the top priority is to create the information and communication platforms for the youth to attract young people to the development and implementation of the industry’s projects. Addressing the audience, Alexander Novak invited participants to take part in the work of his ministry’s scientific and technical council. At the same time, he noted that not only the ministry but each large company in the sector should rely on the energy and knowledge of young specialists. The Minister said this was one of the indispensible prerequisites of the progressive development for any industrial team. In turn, Mikhail Kotyukov pointed to the importance of mentor traditions at production sites where experienced workers would assume patronage over their younger colleagues. “In my time, one of my mentors was Alexander Novak, and I have learnt a lot from him,” Mr Kotyukov confided. In this respect, he said the Ministry of Science and Higher Education planned to open 900 science labs at higher education institutions with a view to preparing over 35,000 new researchers who will promote the development of all spheres of the Russian economy, including energy. The meeting ended with a formal ceremony in which Alexander Novak and Mikhail Kotyukov handed awards to the winners of youth competitions held during the Russian Energy Week 2018.
