Russian Deputy Prime Minister
Alexander Novak chaired the first meeting of the Organizing Committee in charge
of preparing for and holding the Russian Energy Week (REW) International Forum,
which will take place in Moscow on 26–28 September 2024. The event was attended
by representatives of the federal authorities, energy companies, and industry
communities.
Opening the meeting, Novak
noted the substantive level of the business programme and the geography of the
participants and guests of Russian Energy Week 2023. He informed the REW
programme will retain the same level of content, diversity, and intensity this
year and that preparations for and the promotion of REW at other discussion
platforms will become a year-round event. One of these events will be Energy
Day, which will take place on 27 January as part of the international RUSSIA
EXPO at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre in Moscow.
“Each year, the Forum has
increasingly taken on a more high status, despite the uncertainty in the international
arena. Russian Energy Week has become a world-class event in the energy
industry. This year we are focusing on a dialogue with our foreign partners.
The programme will pay particular attention to the participation of heads of
energy companies from foreign countries,” Novak said.
The main events of the REW
2024 programme will take place at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall and are
scheduled for 26–27 September. Youth Day will be held on 28 September. In
addition, based on demand from the industry, Gostiny Dvor will host an exhibition
of innovative industry projects and high-tech equipment produced by companies
for the fuel and energy sector for the first time on 26 September. The
exhibition will subsequently become a regular platform for showcasing the
latest technologies in the energy sector, which have enabled Russia to become a
leader in the global energy industry.
“REW has become increasingly
in demand among foreign guests who are interested in cooperation with Russia.
We see this trend at other business events, and it should be maintained during
Russian Energy Week. The Russian Federation’s chairmanship of BRICS and the CIS
in 2024 will make it possible to welcome participants and guests from countries
that belong to these associations to REW 2024. I am certain that the Forum will
traditionally become a place of attraction for all leading industry
specialists, heads of energy companies, foreign officials, and representatives
of the business, expert, and media communities,” Adviser to the Russian
President and Executive Secretary of the REW 2024 Organizing Committee Anton
Kobyakov said.
This year’s REW programme will
focus on several key areas: the oil, gas, and coal industries, electric power,
digital technologies, scientific and technological development of the energy
industry, the climate agenda, energy security, and more. The plenary session
will be the central event of the business programme.
As part of Russia’s
chairmanship in BRICS and in the run-up to the BRICS Summit in Kazan in October
2024, REW 2024 will hold a number of events, including a meeting of the BRICS
ministers of energy, a platform for energy research among BRICS countries, as
well as the BRICS youth energy summit.
On the opening day of REW, the
‘Territory of Energy Dialogue’ Scientific and Practical Conference will be held
for the third time. The applied event aims to ensure communication between the
engineering sector and scientific institutions.
In addition, the international
Global Energy Prize will be awarded during REW 2024 for outstanding research
and scientific and technical developments that help improve the efficiency and
environmental safety of energy sources on Earth in the interests of all
humanity. Awards will also be presented to the winners of the ‘Energy of the
Pen’ international journalism prize, which aims to provide encouragement to
journalists, observers, and experts writing about the most pressing issues
facing the modern energy industry, including the transformation of the global
energy balance, the development of new technologies, and climate change.
The REW programme will
conclude with the traditional Youth Day, during which young specialists and
students of Russian and foreign energy universities will be able to personally
ask questions to energy industry professionals and company officials, as well
as present initiatives and the results of their work.
In 2023, the REW business programme
and Youth Day included over 70 events that were attended by more than 225
speakers. Over 5,000 delegates from 84 countries and territories took part in
REW 2023. More than 2,000 participants took part in the Youth Day events.
A detailed description of the REW 2023 events is available in the ROSCONGRESS.ORG Information and Analytical System.
REW will take place for the seventh time in 2024. The REW International Forum is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation and Russian Ministry of Energy with the support of the Moscow Government.
