President
of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has sent
greetings to the participants, organizers, and guests of the Russian Energy
Week (REW) International Forum on the president’s official website. The central
theme of REW 2023, which will take place on 11–13 October at the Manege Central
Exhibition Hall in Moscow, is ‘The New Reality of Global Energy: Building the
Future’.
In
his greeting, Putin noted that in recent years, REW has rightfully become one
of the most prominent international platforms for discussing current issues
related to the energy and fuel industry. The Forum brings together the heads of
leading companies and scientific institutes, as well as politicians and experts
from Russia and other countries, to assess trends and prospects for the
development of the fuel and energy sector, exchange views on technological
challenges facing the industry, consider problems
related to the environment and climate change.
Putin stated that achievements
that shape the future of both Russian and global energy will be presented as
part of the REW 2023 business programme. There will be reports on immediate and
long-term priorities in the oil, gas, coal, and electric power industries.
Discussions will be held on how to strengthen Russia’s technological
sovereignty and the digital transformation of the domestic fuel and energy
industry.
“Special attention will be
paid to international energy cooperation. Despite the current geopolitical
conditions, this area of focus is actively evolving today. Economic growth,
scientific and technological progress, and improvements to the quality of life
of people around the world directly depend on how effectively the potential of
this partnership is utilized,” Putin said in his message to the REW
participants.
Putin expressed confidence
that the recommendations developed during REW and the agreements signed on its
sidelines will help to strengthen cooperation in this strategic area and build
a prosperous future for the countries and peoples of the world.
