On 20 February Russia Expo will host a Forum dedicated to national accomplishments in the field of energy. A wide-ranging programme and a vast number of different events have been planned for the event. Visitors will have the chance to experience what it’s like to be an energy industry professional and to work in the sector.
What’s in store?
An unusual master class will be given by the winners
of the world championship, which took place in China. By placing a VR headset
on their heads, guests will instantly become a welder. Elsewhere, the Moscow
Region stand will feature a quest entitled A Day with a Gas Inspector, a game
entitled Gas Safety Rules (designed to test a player’s level of attentiveness),
a master class to design an emergency vehicle, and a chance to test your
chances of survival in an emergency situation.
Meanwhile, school pupils and students will be able to
enter an energy-themed quiz dedicated to physics, electronics, the fundamentals
of electrical engineering, and electrical safety. As for younger guests, there
will be a show entitled Caution – Electricity!, featuring characters from the
hit TV cartoon the Fixies and the educational animated series The Lampochkins,
who will talk about how to stay safe around electricity. In addition, children
and their parents will be able to take part in a number of craft activities at
events dedicated to alternative energy. These will include making paper
pinwheels and candles.
And of course, where there’s energy, there’s sport.
The event will feature a table tennis tournament, basketball lessons, and much
more for all those who like to stay active. An entire programme has been put
together for football fans, with lessons and prize draws featuring stars from
Spartak Moscow, CSKA Moscow, and Zenit St. Petersburg. What’s more, several legends from Spartak
Moscow will be signing autographs in pavilion 25 (Oil), including Dmitry
Alenichev (four-time Russian champion, two-time Russian Cup winner, 1997
Russian footballer of the year, UEFA Cup winner, and Champions League winner),
Yegor Titov (six-time Russian champion, two-time Russian Cup winner, and 1998
and 2000 Russian footballer of the year), and Aleksandr Filimonov (six-time
Russian champion, Russian Cup winner, 1998 Russian goalkeeper of the year, and
FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup winner).
The programme will have plenty on offer both to those
who already work in the energy industry, and future professionals. A number of
useful interactive lectures will be held by the Znanie Society, while industry
experts will talk to young specialists about key aspects and trends relating to
the labour market at a job fair.
The main event of the business programme will be the
plenary session, entitled Leadership and the Resilience of Russian Energy, and
taking place in pavilion 75. During the session, experts will talk about
effective solutions and key accomplishments in the energy sector over the past
few years. Attending the event will be Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian
Federation Alexander Novak. In addition, there will be a number of panel
sessions, during which experts will discuss the impact that career guidance initiatives
have had on attracting young people to the energy sector, and examine issues
related to sustainable development in energy.
“Over the past 20 years, the energy industry has grown
and reached milestones that we can be proud of. The level of gasification in
the Russian regions has reached 73.8%, and since the launch of the first LNG
plant in the country, production of liquefied gas has grown six-fold. Our
country is one of the three largest exporters of coal, and we are unrivalled in
terms of nuclear power. All consumers in Russia have access to electricity in
full, new infrastructure is being put in place, and energy supply is becoming
ever-more reliable. We would not have been able to achieve all this without
support from the state and the President of Russia personally. Similarly,
federal and regional modernization and development programmes for the industry
have been crucial, and we will discuss all this at the Forum,” said Alexander
Novak.
And of course, no event such as this would be complete
without a cultural programme. The main stage will host a concert featuring
Polina Gagarina, Nyusha, Mari Kraimbrery, Uma2rman and other Russian stars.
Visitors will also get the chance to see performances by energy professionals
and win prizes offered by energy companies. Hosting the concert will be Dmitry
Guberniev and Karina Kross.
With such a packed agenda, the organizers could hardly
leave their guests without refreshments. And indeed, a gastronomic programme
will also be on offer, with visitors having a chance to try various local
Russian specialities and warming thematic drinks from Rosatom.
The Forum is being organized by the Government of the
Russian Federation, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, and the
Directorate of the Exhibition of Russia’s Achievements. The operator is the
Roscongress Foundation.
