The ‘Get Charged Up’ Festival of Energy and
Sports will bring together energy companies and active individuals at the
All-Russian Exhibition Centre on 20 February as part of Energy Day at the
international RUSSIA EXPO. The festival programme is the work of RC-Sport, the
Roscongress Foundation sports platform.
The festival will culminate in corporate
snow football and table tennis tournaments.
Football stars Dmitry Alenichev, Dmitry
Bulykin, Vladislav Radimov, and Yegor Titov will take part in the snow football
tournament, scheduled for the All-Russian Exhibition Centre’s Great Exit
Circle. The former Russian national football team players will take part in the
tournament’s opening and closing ceremonies and an autograph session for
everyone interested.
The
Kurchatov Cup table tennis tournament will be held in the Atom pavilion, which
immerses guests in the world of nuclear technologies. The tournament has been
named for the organizer and director of the Soviet nuclear weapons program Igor
Kurchatov, who was a big fan of table tennis and known for playing with his
colleagues. “Break time! Now everybody play ping-pong,” the great scientist
could be heard to say almost every day. Kurchatov’s successors will follow the
Soviet physicist’s example and play in the tournament that bears his name.
The corporate competitions will include
teams from Gazprom Neft, RusHydro, Rosseti, Inter RAO, Mosgas, and Mosoblgaz
among others.
Finally, the Energy Day concert on the
All-Russian Exhibition Centre’s main stage will host draws for tickets to
Spartak, CSKA, and Zenit matches sponsored by the energy companies.
The first ever ‘Get Charged Up’ Festival of
Energy and Sports took place on 27 January at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre
skating rink and was attended by Olympic champion Sergey Svetlov and world
champion Maxim Afinogenov, who held hockey master classes. The decorated
champions also took part in the ‘Getting Charged up with Hockey’ corporate
programme for energy company teams. The festival wrapped up with the Evgeny
Plushenko Fairy Tale ice show featuring Olympic champion Yulia Lipnitskaya.
The Forum is being organized by the Government of the
Russian Federation, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, and the
Directorate of the Exhibition of Russia’s Achievements. The operator is the
Roscongress Foundation.
