Youth Teams at the REW Cup, Under the Auspices of the CASE-IN Championship, De-velop Import Substitution Projects

The jubilee 5th Russian Energy Week International Forum gathers representatives of the industry community in Moscow to discuss current trends and prospects for the development of the fuel and energy complex. REW is organized by Russian Energy Agency of the Russian Ministry of Energy and the Roscongress Foundation with support from the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. 

At the Youth Day on 14 October, young professionals from major companies and students from universities will present their own ideas for the development of the industry to the Forum experts.

One of the points of attraction at the Youth Day is the REW Cup, an engineering case-solving competition under the auspices of the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship. Young specialists from industry companies will present case solutions for import substitution and cooperation to ensure the sustainable functioning and development of fuel and energy industry and natural resources facilities. 

Twelve youth teams representing 11 companies, including ALROSA, T Plus, Rosseti North-West, NTTs FGC UES, Inter RAO – Electric Power Plants, Rosatom, System Operator of the Unified Energy System, Irkutsk Oil Company, Orenburgneft, Gazprom Neft, Lipetsk State Technical University will participate in the REW Cup. 

Participants will present import substitution solutions used in their companies, ensuring the normal functioning of companies and conditions for servicing fuel and energy and mineral facilities in the autumn–winter 2022–2023. Competitors will also propose a technology sovereignty policy for their companies. 

Young people’s ideas will be evaluated by the experts of the REW Youth Day – representatives of companies and universities. They are the Russian Energy Agency (REA of the Russian Ministry of Energy), Zarubezhneft, A.B. Zolotov Scientific and Educational Centre for Computer Modeling of Unique Buildings, Structures and Complexes, Ural Boris Yeltsin Federal University, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Saint Petersburg Mining University, and National Research University Higher School of Economics. 

The REW Cup will be presented to the champions by Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, while the winners of silver and bronze medals will receive their awards at the final session of the REW Youth Day – they will be welcomed by Anastasia Bondarenko, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation. 

The best solutions will be further developed in the companies, and participants will be offered new opportunities for professional and personal growth.
