October 10, 2022
On 14 October 2022, as part of the Youth Day of the Russian Energy Week International Forum (REW 2022) in Moscow, the REW Junior section will bring together high school students, global business leaders, and figures from government and society. The section is organized by the Content Foundation.
The event will be attended by more than 40 high school students, for whom an interesting business programme is being developed, designed to promote the fuel and energy sector and engineering education.
“Today, attracting talent to such an important industry for the country as the energy sector is a major challenge. On the one hand, it is being handled by specialist universities and, on the other hand, by industry-leading companies. The REW Junior platform will allow high school students, who are now at the starting point for career guidance, to be integrated into this process and see their views on the formation of industry motivation in the fuel and energy sector,” said Elena Sokolova, Director of the Content Foundation.
As part of the REW Junior business programme, a panel discussion will be held with representatives of relevant universities and major energy corporations to discuss the role of universities in shaping workforce sovereignty in the fuel and energy sector. They will also discuss training future personnel for energy sector development, as well as modern practices of career guidance and industry motivation used by leading companies. The discussion will be attended by Nikolay Rogalev, Rector, National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute”, Oleg Baulin, Rector of the Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, Dmitry Sednev, Rector of the Tomsk Polytechnic University, Veronika Minina, Vice-Rector, National Research University Higher School of Economics, and Mikhail Lavrukhin, Head of Social Policy Department of Lukoil. It will be moderated by Evgeniy Szhenov, Scientific Supervisor, Expert and Analytical Center “Scientific and Educational Policy” and Elena Myakotnikova, Advisor to CEO, Sibur.
The business programme of the section will also include a strategic session entitled ‘Staffing the Fuel and Energy Sector and Related Industries: New Forms and Programmes of Professional Probation, Training and Competence Development’, developed jointly with Rosatom State Corporation. At the strategic session, leading industry experts will formulate recommendations for implementing new approaches to career guidance for schoolchildren, taking into account their needs and interests, and based on research conducted with teenagers.
In addition, schoolchildren will attend the central event of the REW Youth Day with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak and heads of leading corporations of the Russian fuel and energy complex.
REW Junior will be held as part of the Point Junior project, implemented by the Content Foundation with the support of Innopraktika and the Roscongress Foundation. The project is building a community of proactive teenagers (14–18 years old) by creating a cross-cutting agenda at key discussion venues. Point Junior gives participants the opportunity to present their ideas and initiatives at a high level and receive mentoring support from prominent businessmen, politicians and public figures.
