20 April 2021, St Petersburg – The World Energy Council and the Roscongress Foundation are delighted to announce that registration is now open for delegates wishing to attend the 25th World Energy Congress. The Congress is held every three years, and is a key event for the energy sector.
The 25th World Energy Congress will take place on 24–27 October 2022 in St Petersburg, and will mark the centenary of the World Energy Council. Russia was conferred the right to host the World Energy Council’s flagship event following a vote by the organisation’s national committees in 2018.
The four-day event will bring together more than 200 leaders involved in shaping the global fuel and energy sector, including ministers and heads of state. The Congress will also welcome more than 7,000 energy stakeholders from across the world. Energy producers, consumers, and other stakeholders will attend the Congress to discuss key issues facing the industry, as well as new solutions for people and the planet.
Dr Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General and CEO of the World Energy Council said, “Under the theme of Energy for Humanity, the St Petersburg 25th World Energy Congress will showcase ground-breaking advances in energy for people and planet, and provide a unique space for informed leadership dialogue and new collaborative action.
“As we approach our centenary in 2023, our focus is on the next 100 years and the role of people, alongside technology and investment, in turning bold ambitions into better energy realities.”
Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the World Energy Congress Organising Committee said, “We support the endeavours of the World Energy Council to make the global fuel and energy sector fully meet the needs of humanity. I firmly believe that the Congress in St Petersburg will be the most prestigious energy event of the decade as it welcomes industry leaders from across the globe.”
Dr Angela Wilkinson added, “Energy is the key enabler of human progress. The Congress creates a unique moment to convene the increasing diversity in energy in an exchange of experiences and common-sense conversations on the current state and outlook of the entire energy system. Our ambition is to build forward together and secure the benefits of sustainable energy for all.
