Russia and Bahrain to continue cooperation at key Russian events

Adviser to the Russian President Anton Kobyakov held a meeting in Moscow with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation Ahmed Al-Saati.

The two officials discussed prospects for Russian-Bahraini cooperation within the framework of forums. In particular, they addressed issues concerning the possible formats for Bahrain’s participation in the events of the 2nd Eurasian Women's Forum (EWF 2018), Russian Energy Week (REW 2018), and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2019).

“Russian-Bahraini relations will continue to develop progressively in all areas as we preserve and strengthen the traditional strong ties between our countries. We would be thrilled if Russia’s key business forums contribute to the further strengthening of full-format bilateral cooperation”, Adviser to the Russian President Anton Kobyakov said in his greeting.

For his part, Ambassador Ahmed Al-Saati added that Bahrain is interested in cooperation with Russia in various spheres. He noted that a substantial Bahraini delegation would take part in the Eurasian Women’s Forum in September and Russian Energy Week in October 2018. Representatives from official and business circles of Persian Gulf countries are also expected to take an active part in SPIEF 2019.

“These discussion platforms are useful for conducting negotiations”, the Ambassador said.

The officials discussed the possibility of Prince of Bahrain Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa taking part in the events of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (68 June 2019).

An agreement was reached during the meeting to hold an economic forum involving representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the constituent entities of the Russian Federation as part of the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi (1415 February 2019).

The officials paid particular attention to discussing organizational issues related to the Days of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The idea to organize the event arose during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The event is held to promote the development of bilateral relations and will serve as a kind of presentation of Russia with its distinctive history and culture to representatives of the countries of the Arab world. They noted that the best time for the event would be OctoberNovember 2019 and discussed the preliminary programme for the Days of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the training plan.
