Olympic
ice hockey champion Sergei Svetlov and other prominent athletes will take part
in the sporting programme of Russian Energy Week, which will take place in
Moscow on 13–15 October. The Forum is being organized by the Russian Ministry
of Energy, the Roscongress Foundation, and the Moscow Government.
“This
marks the first time that the sporting programme will be presented on such a
large scale during Russian Energy Week. This makes perfect sense since sports
are among the irreplaceable sources of energy for humans today, as has been especially
demonstrated during the pandemic. I am certain that the programme supported by
sports stars will provide a great opportunity for REW 2021 participants to
recharge for their work at the Forum, expand business contacts, and continue important
discussions in an informal setting,” Adviser to the Russian President and
Executive Secretary of the REW Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov said.
The team
of ‘Energy Workers’ will take on the team of ‘Innovators’ in a football match dubbed
the Skolkovo Energy Game, which will kick off the sporting program on 10 October
at 10:00. That same evening, representatives of the political and business
elite will take to the ice during the Roscongress Cup gala hockey match. Along with
Sergei Svetlov, the teams will be bolstered by Olympic medallist and Stanley
Cup winner Valery Zelepukin and world champion Alexander Svitov.
At
10:00 on 16 September, the ‘Energy Worker’ and ‘Innovators’ teams will meet on
the basketball court in the Skolkovo Energy Game. The game will feature 2007
European champion and centre Alexey Savrasenko, who stands 2.15 metres, and Igor
Kudelin, one of the best snipers in the history of the Russian national team
and a medallist at world and European championships.
The
general partners of the sporting programme are Rotex and EastEnergyService. The events will be held
with the support of Roscongress Sport Club. The Skolkovo Energy Game matches
are being organized by the Skolkovo basketball and football clubs.
