New transport and logistics centre to be built on the Russia–China border

At the Russian Energy Week International Forum, United Petrochemical Company and Xuan Yuan IndustrialDevelopment Co. Ltd signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the development of trade and industrial relations between companies from the People’s Republic of China and the Russian FederationThe documents were signed by Alexander Zakharov, General Director of United Petrochemical Company,and Xue Hailong, Executive President of Xuan Yuan IndustrialDevelopment Co. Ltd.

 

Priority areas of focus include the development of cooperation in joint projects involving supplies of energy resources and freight, including biodiesel fuelcoalbulk, hazardous and non-hazardous freight, and liquefied petroleum gas (LNG).

 

To this end, the parties agreed on the joint implementation of a project: a new rail transport and logistics centre (TLC) located close to the railway bridge over the Amur Riveron two land plots in the Jewish Autonomous Regionnear the TongjiangNizhneleninskoye border crossingThe planned volume of freight traffic is up to 15 million tonnes a yearThe complex will also facilitate the development of the joint industrial production and storage of consumer goods and equipment and the assembly of industrial products.

 

“The signed agreement will help boost our country’s revenues by creating a centre for the transhipment of strategic energy commodities in a new areaThis is a major and significant project for Russia and China,” noted Alexander Zakharov, General Director of United Petrochemical Company.

 

The joint work on the development of the transport and logistics centre in Russia, with the active involvement of XuanYuan Industrial Development Co. Ltd, will play an important role in supplies of biodiesel fuel from China to Russiaand in the development of China’s border areasThe parties agreed to explore issues of the creation of a retail network of autogasfilling stations (AGFS) and gasification programmes using liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia in large towns and cities in China’s Heilongjiang Province.
