Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov chaired an interagency meeting in Moscow that focused on promoting the Russian youth agenda at large conventions, exhibitions, and international agencies. The meeting involved repre-sentatives of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Federal Agency for Youth Af-fairs, Rossotrudnichestvo, the Centre for Support of Youth Creative Initiatives (Roskulttsentr), the Centre for Support of Young Specialists, the Presidential Direc-torate for Interregional Relations and Cultural Contacts with Foreign Countries, and the Roscongress Foundation.

The ‘COVID-19: Accelerating a Better Energy Future for All’ online conference took place on 17 June, marking the launch of the Road to Congress 2022 online event series. Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak and Secretary General and CEO of the World Energy Council Angela Wilkinson were joined by leading experts in the energy sector to discuss their vision of the transition to a ‘new normal’ after the crisis. The conference was organized by the Roscongress Foundation and the World Energy Council with the support of the Global Energy Association and Rosseti.

An online conference entitled ‘COVID-19: accelerating a better energy future for all’ is set to be held on 17 June 2020 at 11:00 (BST)/13:00 (GMT+3). The event will be held in a digital format and will be broadcast live on Russia 24 and Bloomberg Live Go (Bloomberg Terminal subscribers only). The conference will be the first in a series of online events as part of Road to Congress 2020. These events will take place biannually in the run up to the 25th World Energy Congress (to be held on 24–27 October 2022 in St. Petersburg).

The year 2020 marks the 5th anniversary of the #TogetherBrighter International Energy Efficiency Festival.

The World Energy Council has presented the results of a review entitled ‘Shaping the future while managing a crisis: analysis from the World Energy Council’.

Angela Wilkinson, World Energy Council Secretary General & CEO described both current and long-term consequences of the crisis for energy systems and spoke about prerequisites for switching to new energy sources based on the results of the Council’s research project.
