I am pleased to welcome you to the Russian Energy Week International Forum.
Russia occupies a strong position among the world energy leaders and is well known as a reliable
and responsible exporter of energy resources. Despite the unprecedented pressure that is being exerted
on our country, which has been going on for a number of years already, we are fulfilling our obligations,
and we seek to conclude long-term mutually beneficial contracts.
Per tradition, government officials, entrepreneurs, and experts from numerous countries around the world
gather together in Moscow to analyse the current situation in the global energy sector, share forecasts
for the future, and, most importantly, find solutions to the most pressing problems. The business programme
will allow for discussions about the pressing issues facing the energy community and a thorough review of
such significant themes as global markets, the climate agenda, technological sovereignty, and digital transformation.
During industry-specific meetings, roundtable discussions, and seminars, the best experts will speak in detail about
important innovations in the fuel and energy industry and the social sector.
The development of energy markets directly depends on constructive cooperation among nations.
For this reason, we will continue diversifying energy supplies, modernizing the fuel and energy industry,
attracting investments, and launching new projects, including the deep processing of raw materials.
And of course, as at previous forums, this year the Global Energy International Prize will be awarded for
outstanding research, scientific, and technological achievements that help to increase the efficiency and
environmental safety of energy sources for the benefit of all mankind.
I am certain that this Forum will best be remembered for its interesting
discussions and that the ideas, initiatives, and recommendations expressed during
it will be in high demand on a practical level.
“Much of Russia’s success is linked to the fuel and energy industry and attention paid to problems and achievements in the industry. Energy makes the national and international news each day: new technologies are actively being introduced, new partnerships are emerging, and companies are entering new markets. We expect that the Russian Energy Week forum will enable international and Russian participants to see the whole range of opinions and create new joint initiatives.”
Dmitry Peskov, Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, and Chairman of the Expert Council of the MediaTEK National Competition
“Russia as a leader of the world’s energy industry substantially contributes to the global energy agenda. I am glad that heads of states, energy authorities and companies as well as experts from numerous countries choose Moscow and REW as a platform for discussing issues of energy development. This year main topics will include ‘Sustainable development of the energy industry for an unpredictable world’ and a roadmap of Russian energy industry development until 2024, as well as opportunities for investors, equipment producers and energy consumers brought about by the launch of major energy projects.”
Alexandr Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation
“One of the main goals of RussNeft for the near future is to improve production efficiency. In the 21st century companies must strive to incorporate the latest innovations in order to remain competitive, drive growth, and produce strong financial and operational results.”
Evgeny Tolochek, President, PJSC NK RussNeft
“The modern realities of the fuel and energy industry require close coordination and interaction among production companies, research centres, the authorities, the media, and the public. It is gratifying that Russia has and effectively utilizes such a large-scale international platform as Russian Energy Week. On behalf of Transneft, I would like to wish productive work to all the forum organizers and participants.”
Nikolay Tokarev, President of Transneft
“Rosatom can design, build, and produce equipment, commission, train personnel, provide maintenance and fuel, and operate a nuclear facility anywhere in the world. Our integrated approach has enabled us to become number one in the world in terms of the number of power units being built. It’s not just trade in raw materials. The knowledge and competence of Russian nuclear scientists in matters concerning high technologies is the focus of export demand. During Russian Energy Week, we not only want to present our best technologies, but discuss key challenges and global trends in the energy sector together with our partners and leading experts.”
Alexei Likhachev, General Director of Rosatom State Corporation
"The energy industry, the creation of new types of high-tech, energy efficient equipment, and development of innovative energy saving technologies are all issues on the agenda of each player in the the global energy resource market. The Russian Energy Week Forum serves as a platform for them to work together in finding solutions for these issues, topics that are priorities for the development of the Russian and international fuel and energy industry. I wish all of the participants a productive discussion touching on all of the industry’s strategically crucial topics."
Vladimir Bogdanov, Director General of Surgutneftegas
“Today, the whole world is following the transformation of the energy sector. In the same way that oil and gas at one time took over firewood and coal in the energy balance structure, renewable energy will displace hydrocarbon sources of energy in our times. Technology is rapidly developing in the area of energy storage, energy efficiency, and the industrial Internet. It is important for Russia to not be left out in the cold of technological competition. For its part, Energy Week could become an indicator of change in the domestic energy sector and enable participants to find the right place to apply their efforts regardless of the focus of their activities: be it power engineering, solar, or traditional generation.”
Viktor Vekselberg, Chairman, Board of Directors of Renova Group
“In my view, the most important and relevant benefit of ‘Russian Energy Week’ is the opportunity for a constructive dialogue between all participants in the fuel and energy sector – equipment manufacturers, power engineers and the government –and thus the ability to achieve positive financial and economic indicators and develop the domestic energy industry.”
Yuri Petrenya, General Director of Power Machines
"REW is a meeting place for professionals. For us, as for the entire industry as a whole, the issue of improving the investment climate in Russia is extremely important. We are ready to continue attracting the latest technologies to the country and developing promising projects. In addition to ensuring the reliability of power supply and infrastructure development, the goal of modernizing power generating capacities looms large for the Russian energy sector. I am confident that the discussions during REW will enable us to identify the vectors for the further development of the country's electric power industry."
Maxim Shirokov, CEO of Unipro
“Russian Energy Week quickly became a globally influential industry platform. It brings together authorities, businessmen and experts to discuss key challenges and tendencies in the energy sector around the world, and outline the possibilities for further industrial development. I’m confident the forum is going to bring tangible results through exchange of ideas and networking”.
Alexei Miller, CEO, Gazprom
“The ‘Russian Energy Week’ International Forum is an effective platform for a constructive dialogue between representatives of leading oil companies, industry experts, and various business communities. Meetings of this level are a good opportunity to learn about trends in the industry’s development and exchange advanced experience as well as scientific and technical achievements in the global oil industry.”
Nail Maganov, General Direcor of Tatneft
“I believe that Russian Energy Week has become one of the leading specialist platforms that enables a constructive dialogue to take place between the top Russian and international energy companies. Today, the Forum already has a unique potential for the exchange of views, it strengthens the image of the Russian fuel and energy sector, and provides the stimulus for attracting new investments.”
Oleg Korzhov, CEO, Mechel PJSC
“Enterprises working in the fuel and energy sector continue to demonstrate steady growth despite the difficult market situation and artificial external constraints. In order to effectively implement Russia’s Energy Strategy until 2030, it is extremely important to maintain our competitive advantages and outline future ways to develop. Meeting these challenges requires coordination between government bodies, state corporations, and independent producers. The Russian Energy Week International Forum will help create the conditions for such coordination and, I believe, will also become a platform for constructive dialogue between experts in the fuel and energy sector.”
